DATANA is going to space

We’re proud to announce that our DNA data storage technology will be heading to orbit as part of the Elephant Juice project, an initiative aimed at preserving personal messages in Earth’s orbit using the power of DNA. As part of this project, we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with OculloSpace, in collaboration with partners Alba Orbital, SpaceX, and XexiconSat. Together, we are enabling individuals to encode and send their most meaningful memories, including life milestones, tributes, and personal stories, into space, preserved for generations to come.

During their recent visit to our facilities, the OculloSpace team joined us to formalize our partnership and celebrate this exciting step forward.

The messages will be encoded into synthetic DNA using DATANA’s patented platform and launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 Transporter-11 mission in early 2026. Once in low Earth orbit, these symbolic archives will demonstrate not only the emotional power of preserving memories but also the resilience and durability of DNA as a storage medium in some of the harshest conditions. A portion of the project’s proceeds will support NGOs that empower children to pursue education and careers in space exploration, making this initiative about more than just technology. It is about inspiring future generations.

While long-term archival storage remains the primary application of DNA-based data storage, this project highlights its flexibility. DNA can support not only critical industries but also deeply personal and cultural expressions beyond Earth.

We are excited and honored to contribute to the Elephant Juice mission, and we thank our partners for their trust and collaboration. Together, we are proving that even memories can have a place among the stars.
