Synthetic Biology Meets Precision Engineering
DATANA combines proprietary synthetic biology, liquid handling and precision electronics to build a fundamentally new storage medium for the digital era.

DNA DATA STORAGE IN 4 STEPS
Digital files are translated into a unique sequence of pre-defined DNA fragments by the DATANA encoder.
Correct DNA fragments are biochemically assembled and amplified to form long, data-carrying chains.
DNA is purified, dehydrated, and stored in dedicated air-gapped containers for ambient temperature storage.
DNA is extracted, sequenced using Next-Generation Sequencing, and decoded back to the original digital file.
WHY DNA?
Engineered by nature over billions of years, DNA offers capabilities no conventional storage medium can match.
CORE TECHNOLOGIES
Proprietary algorithms map your 0s and 1s onto DNA bases, and reassemble the original file. A multi-layer error correction system ensures that data is recovered bit for bit, even though writing and reading DNA always introduce some errors.
Rather than building DNA one base at a time, our patent-pending protocols assemble it from pre-made blocks. This is what makes writing DNA fast and cost-efficient enough to move it out of the lab and toward real use, the step that has held the field back for years.
Our patented liquid handling system dispenses fluids at picolitre precision and high throughput. That precision keeps reagent use, and therefore cost, low, and lets the synthesis and read steps run at scale instead of one sample at a time.
Synthesized DNA is sealed dry inside metal capsules that block the two things that degrade it, moisture and oxygen. Stored this way at room temperature with no power, the data stays stable for over 30,000 years. Developed with our R&D partner Imagene.
